Memorial Day Music

What memorial day and patriotic holiday of any kind would be complete without Lee Greenwood singing "God Bless the U.S.A".  It is just a classic song.  I found a touching video on youtube with photo slideshow of shots of some troops.

So watch listen and remember we get to have our music because these men/women keep us safe and fight for us!

For Got About the Follow Up

There are many bands that people consider a "one hit wonder".  I find that many people just under value some acts.  Case and point was Deep Blue Something I wrote about this past week.  Here is another band.  Perhaps you will remember "The Way" or "Fire Escape" from the band Fastball.  Forget that I camped out with some very interesting characters to get front row tickets just to find out the radio station took the first 3 rows what a crap deal that was!

Well anyway many people think this band was just a one record deal but they actually had a decent follow up or sophomore album.  Here is one of the better tunes from it and it is quite catchy.

Best Come Back Single

Many of the older bands recently have decided to try and come back.  Def Leppard, Journey, and several others.  I do have to say that the best come back song or single from any of the bands that are from the 70-80's is this song that came out a few years ago.  Sorry but the truth hurts sometimes.

For Days Like Today

Sometimes you just have to have music to describe your moods and help you get through the drudgery of life!  I have several songs that I feel describe my life most of them are rather depressing but hey someone could write a soap show about my life.

Perhaps many of you will remember the first song from this band. They have a fairly unique sound and I love it. They arent hugely popular and have since broken up. They have several albums and each has its share of great songs and lets be honest some oddities I will call it.

Depsite that you will remember this song and you will also remember them from the Shrek movie singing their song "My Beloved Monster and Me".  Here is their first huge success which really makes me wish I had some novicane for my head today!

Are You Callin Me a Liar?

A few people will know this band from the last year.  They have had much more success now then they did for years before.  They were a vary "undiscovered" band quite popular in select areas and a more local scene till this song came out a year or two ago.  It is awesome and they followed it with a pretty strong single as well.

Unknown or Local

There is a band that I heard featured on a radio station a while back.  I actually helped pin up posters for them in salt lake city. They are pretty good but their albums havent really taken off outside of the local or international markets.

This band is produced and work with members of bands the likes of Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Collective Soul and more.  So there is no short of music expertise there at all.

Check out this track from their 2005 album which is one of my favs by them

Not Just Breakfast at Tiffany's

There is a certain band with a name that really puzzles some people.  I remember going into a store asking the man if they carried "Deep Blue Something" and he kept asking me what the something was.  The man was a moron in regards to music, but then again it's me typing.

Anyway Deep Blue Something release the ever popular "Breakfast at Tiffany's" which was a huge success but that was off their second album "Home". After that the band had little success and the major success has come from two members of the band helping to produce Drowning Pool.  There are some good tracks off the "Home" album.  They did release another album which has some good tracks as well.

Anyway off the same album as "Breakfast at Tiffany's" here is probably my favorite song by them...

Part of the Rych?

Perhaps many of you dig the old rock scene of big hair, ballads and gut busting solos that melt your face (thanks jack black).  Perhaps many of you classic guitar folks will appreciate this one but there is a lot of things to say about the band Queensrych.  I personally wasnt into it that much but when they released a greatest hits EP in the 90's this song came out which is my personal favorite of them

What Kind of Girl Do You Have?

Many of us know and can quote the Farrley Brothers film staring Jim Carrey "Dumb and Dumber".  Well people may recognize this song from that movie.  This song was the only success the band had.  They did release a second album but disbanded after it since it didnt pick up and sell.

Launching

Ed-musi-kation if you look at it right is a play on edumacation and music.  Since I have always since I was young recommended songs/artists and have had influence over those close to me in that regard I figure why not have some fun with it.

So the point of this is to bring to your attention mostly old but maybe some new songs that are "face melting" in one way or another.  Sometimes you will know them and some times not.  They will usually be in the format of youtube videos.

So lets kick this thing off with something memorable and going off the spirit of humor behind the actual name of the blog.

Who could forget this song?  mmm not me  LISTEN  The canadian band actually got three Grammy nods for their album and the album this song was on sold over 5.5 million copies.  You tell me if the albums were kept or if you will find them at your local used cd shops.
